Thermostats
There are multiple options to look at when choosing to upgrade your thermostat. Updating your thermostat can make life easier, can save you money, and may even make your home safer.
Modern thermostats can be controlled using your phone or wifi device. If you’re too hot or too cold inside your home then you are only a few seconds away from turning on (or off) the heating or air conditioning. You don’t have to get out of bed to adjust the heating or air conditioning temperature.
Thermostats are also programmable. You can program them to turn on before you wake up in the morning or before you get home from work. That makes it possible to either not heat or cool your house all day or lower the temperature all day when no one is in it. Think of the cost savings!
One of our suggestions to allow maximum comfort and still maintain cost savings and efficiency is to lower the temperature up to 10 degrees when no one is home, but don’t completely turn the system off. Turning the system completely off causes the system to work much harder to achieve your desired temperature when you are home.
A digital thermostat is also safer than a non-digital thermostat. Did you know that non-digital thermostats have mercury in them? They often have more mercury than other items in your home. When replacing a mercury style thermostat, proper disposal is needed to protect the environment.
