SEWAGE EJECTION PUMPS
If you have a basement that is lower than your sewer main, then there is a good chance you have (or should have) a sewage ejector pump. If the sewer line that goes from your home to the street is lower than the line in your basement, the sewage ejector pump will help get the sewage from your pipes to the main line. After all, plumbing systems typically use gravity to get the waste out of your house or business. When properly installed a sewage ejector pump will get the waste up and out of your home when functioning.
The ejector pump will sit in a basin in your basement or below the floor in the basement, much like a sump pump. It pumps waste and liquid up to the main sewer line. In most cases we install a single pump but can install a second as a backup. Typically sewage ejector pumps have an alarm that will sound if and when the pump fails. If you hear the alarm, give us a call and we will come and determine what is causing the alarm to sound. If you have a system that does not currently have an alarm, we can install one for you.
There are different types of pumps available. Some only push the waste through, which may be all that you need. Additional types of pumps will grind the waste (much like a garbage disposal would). The basin will hold the sewage until it has full to point of activating the float switch. Once it is full, the pump removes the waste from your home or business.
If you’d like to have a sewage ejector pump installed then you will also need to install a vent for proper operation. The vent gives sewer gasses the opportunity to safely find a way out of your home. Besides, you don’t want sewage smell in your home!
Give us a call and one of our certified technicians will come to your home and find the best place to install the pump and the vent. Cities often require a permit in order to install a sewage ejector pump. Because we are a licensed plumbing contractor local to Salt Lake and Utah counties, we know which municipalities require a permit and what specifications they are expecting.
If you already have a pump and need an annual service, we do that too! Our certified technicians will make sure that the float is clear, the motor is functioning, the pump is clean and everything is running as it should. That includes removing anything that may be stuck in the tank.
